what a full weekend! (sidenote: i am watching justin timberlake on SNL right now as i type this, so if any of it doesn’t make sense, that’s why. also: i love it when he hosts! hilarious. always.)
paul’s dad was here, getting back from a business trip to florida! lucky…… it was really nice to see him and catch up. we had dinner at one of our favorite mexican places here, las margaritas with all of our fam here in minneapolis. (that makes it sound like a ton of people, it was 6 of us…)… paul has a great family and i am really thankful to be a part of it.
also, this weekend friends of ours, josh kraakevik and hayley gowin, treated us to an amazing weekend at the W hotel in minneapolis. although they live in california, they wanted to spoil us from afar, and paid for a beautiful room for us to enjoy on saturday night. who does that??! amazing friends, that’s who. we felt so blessed and it was an amazing way to staycation ourselves. thanks guys! we love you! the W is amazingly beautiful and has such a fun atmosphere. (omg SNL update: i love the stefon skit during weekend update…LOL) anyway, we checked in, and headed downstairs to a great happy hour in the lounge called “the living room”. it was beautiful, had amazing appetizers, and paul tried his first manhattan. it was all delish.
that night we had dinner at the 112 eatery. ha-ma-zing. its a small little restaurant in downtown minneapolis with amazing food and super cozy atmosphere. we shared sea bass, razor clam salad, mussels, and pan roasted gnocchi with parmesan. yum. yum. yum. then we headed back to the hotel and danced the night away in the lounge that turns into an amazing club with a dj………hahahah just kidding! we went up to our room, ordered the most redonkulously delectable brownie from manny’s steakhouse (ironic, isn’t it?), and looked at houses online….in our matching hotel bathrobes….. we are old and boring. and i wouldn’t have it any other way.
today we spent some time lounging in bed at the hotel watching golf before heading home. this evening, we helped prepare a meal at the union gospel mission with our small group. this place is doing some incredible things here in the twin cities and we are honored to be able to participate with them.
later, our friends cory and summer came over with cory’s parent phil and dawn. they are so great and HUGE IU fans. we watched the game and the weekend was capped with an indiana win! whoop!
so much packed into 2 1/2 days!
………..not terribly excited about having to work tomorrow, but i am sure it will provide entertainment and fodder for this blog of mine.
